The Recitation of Poetry For a World Without Walls held in Hefei,China
On February 23, 2019, the Recitation of Poetry For a World Without Walls was held at Kafka Independent Bookstore in Hefei, China. The recitation was held in response to the call of the World Poetry Movement to promote the globalization of poetry. The recitation was planned by Chinese poets Han Qingcheng and Cao Shui. It is hosted by poet Xu Duoyu and organized by the Committee of the Boao International Poetry Award.
Liang Xiaobin, the representative poet of Chinese mordern poetry, recited his works on the spot by Chinese poets Han Qingcheng, Xu Duoyu and Xu Qin. The poet Cao Shui was unable to reach the scene for some reason, sent congratulations through video and recited his Chinese and English version of the poem Great Dance of Sorrow. Dozens of poets in Hefei participated in the event. They recited works by famous Chinese poets Bei Dao, Shu Ting, Ye Wenfu, Jidi Majia, Wang Xiaoni, Huang Yazhou, Luo Ying, Cheng Butao, Li Yun, Xu Qin, Han Qingcheng, Cao Shui and Xu duoyu, etc.
Han Qingcheng, one of the planners of the recitation and director of the Committee of Boao International Poetry Award , said: 'Through this kind of poetry recitation activities carried out synchronously all over the world, we can show the key topics of the world poetry movement, such as the connection between poetry and peace, the reconstruction of the human spirit, the reconciliation and recovery of nature, the unity and cultural diversity of peoples, material poverty and poetic justice. Poetry interfere with reality and life, and make the world tend to peace and beauty. As faras China is concerned, it can promote the integration of contemporary poetry into the world and accelerate the internationalization of Chinese poetry.”
Cao Shui, one of the planners of the recitation and deputy editor in chief of Poetry Weekly, said, 'I have been advocating Greatpoemism Movement, advocating the integration of oriental and occidental cultures, the integration of ancient and modern cultures, and the integration of secular and mysterious cultures. This is in common with the idea of the World Poetry Movement. Human beings once came from the same place and will eventually move towards the same world. I am also at the forefront of the biggest controversy in Chinese poetry, Controversy Between Cao Shui and Yi Sha, which I believe will surely promote the development of new Chinese poetry in the future 100 years. Many world's poems have been translated into Chinese poetry, and Chinese poetry should also go to the world. I recite my poem Great Dance of Sorrow in both English and Chinese for you. I hope that in the future, mankind will rebuild the Tower of Babel where we can comunicate freely without walls.”
It is known that after the recitation, Han Qingcheng and Cao Shui will also plan a recitation in Haikou, China, in response to the call of the World Poetry Movement, to promote the globalization of poetry.
